The roads we walked separately were rough & rocky,
Up & down hills, in & out of valleys;
The detours we took were painful & tiring,
But we found our way to the intersection,
Where our paths were brought back together.

Thank you, God, for giving me little signs in those subtle smiles of his where Your love shines through & I’m able to tell that this is You.
The rain fell slightly around us as the music played from the speaker on top of your car.
You spun me around in circles next to the tree we climbed in middle school,
& I couldn’t help but be thankful to see the ghosts of those two people,
Who no longer exist,
Dance along with us, their shadows slightly off from ours in the streetlight.
16 & 17 are reckless, burning like wildfire, loud laughter sometimes sprinkled with angry tears.
20 & 21 are still somewhat reckless, still fiery at times, laughter so loud & smiles so big you end up in pain, but the best part is they’re His.
It’s a funny thing what love can do;
Just like the ocean tide kisses the shore,
It will always come back to you.
The pen dances across the crisp, white page, carefully but smoothly, without hesitation. The hand holding the pen is gentle & loving, kind & merciful, full of grace & constant. The book is new, each page is new, & each one flips once it’s filled with writing, producing a beautiful sound that radiates through the air.

If God could run out of grace, He would’ve for me by now. And yet every morning I wake up, He says, “There is more, there is still more.”

It’s in those quiet moments -
A gentle rustle through the trees, a pen on paper, a sigh, a bird chirping, the gentle shifting of position -
That you stop for a moment,
Breathe in the stillness,
The calmness.
& all storms in your mind cease for a moment.
